Miguel Delibes Setien

A novelist, short-story writer, essayist, jounalist and professor, Delibes was born in Valladolid, Spain on Oct. 17, 1920 and died on March 12th 2010 in the same city.

He was awarded the Nadal Prize in 1947 for his first novel, La sombra del ciprés es alargada.

Regarded as one of the foremost Spanish novelists and short-story writers of the 20up>th century, Delibes’ writings have been translated into French, English, German, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish and Dutch.

His most important works include Diario de un cazadorLas ratasCinco horas con Mario and Siestas con viento sur.

Delibes was awarded Spain’s National Narrative Prize for the novel El hereje, which the author himself has described as “an end-of-career work.”
