Alfredo Bryce Echenique

Born Feb. 19, 1939 in Lima, Peru. Bryce Echenique’s first book, Huerto cerrado, was published in 1965.

His most acclaimed works include Un mundo para Julius, La felicidad,  Tantas veces Pedro, Todos los cuentos, La vida exagerada de Martín Romaña, El huerto de mi amada and Permiso para sentir (Antimemorias 2).

Bryce Echenique has been awarded Peru’s National Literature Prize, Spain’s National Narrative Prize and the 2002 Planeta Prize and was inducted into the French Order of Arts and Letters, among other distinctions.
