Lola Beccaria

Beccaria was born in Ferrol (Galicia) in 1963. She has a doctorate in Hispanic studies. She has written several novels which have been translated into a number of different languages. She has created a musical based on "The Little Match Girl" as well as some film scripts.

She has published two novels – La debutante and La luna en Jorge, the latter a finalist for the Nadal Prize in 2001 – and has written short stories, columns for newspapers and literary criticism.

As part of her research, Beccaria discovered and edited a hitherto unknown comedy by Lope de Vega, El Otomano famoso.She also wrote the storyline for the 2001 film Fausto 5.0, which was produced by the Catalan theater troupe La Fura dels Baus.
