Carlo Fabretti and Nando Lopez, winners of the 2020 SM Awards

In a virtual press conference the publishing firm has announced the winners that have written great stories about identities.

Two stories about finding identity have been selected winners of the 42 edition of the Fundacion SM Awards for 2020. The book, “Quien quieres ser,” (Who do you want to be?) from Carlo Frabetti, has been awarded with the Barco de Vapor prize for children, and “La versión de Eric”, (Eric’s Version) has won the Gran Angular Prize in the young adult catagory.

“Every year is special for SM.  It is one of the most important moments.  But this year, 2020, even more so,” has stated Gabriel Brandariz, Editorial Manager of Children and Young Adult literature at SM, during the virtual press conference where the names of the winners were revealed.  The endowment for these prizes is 35,000 Euros each, the highest amount in the Spanish-speaking world in these categories.

The Corona virus pandemic situation has broken with all traditions this week,  where the Day of the Book is celebrated without the Premio Cervantes (Cervantes Award) and without San Jordi.  The evening ceremony where awards are given, which in the last years have been presided by Queen Letizia, has not been an exception (next year there will be a place for the 2020 winners).
