The sector registered a 2.7 percent increase, a figure slightly lower than the 2.8 of 2015
The publishing sector in Spain continues the upward trend it has been drawing since 2014. Publishing revenues increased 2.7 percent, slightly lower than in 2015 (2.8). Translated to economic figures, were 2,317.20 million euros.
Despite the positive figures, there is still a way to reach the levels established before the crisis. Growth has been distributed among all genres, although with special relevance to literary, both for adults and for the younger audience (1.4 and 7.1 percent, respectively). Something similar happens with textbooks, driven by the renewal of the 2nd and 4th manuals of secondary education that was promoted through LOMCE last year. However, sales of such publications have grown less than in past years (3.4 percent).
