The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports has given this morning its ruling on the Best Published Book Awards for the year 2016. This prize intends to reward and give due recognition the work of publishing houses in the publication of books and literary works.

The awards do not entail a cash prize, but nevertheless they are highly coveted by the publishing houses because of the recognition and prestige they give to their work, as well as the publicity that they bring, because the awarded books will be later exhibited at the international book fairs of LIBER (Madrid, October 4-6, 2017), Frankfurt (October 11-15, 2017), and Leipzig (March 15-18, 2018). These last two fairs – which boast a tradition of bibliophily spanning centuries – will showcase the exhibition Best Book Design from all over the World, international competition that got its start at the city of Leipzig in the year 1963 and to which each country sends every year the books that win their national contest. After the books are exhibited in both German fairs, they will be donated to the collection of the German Book and Type Museum in Leipzig.
