Javier Marías, 2017 LIBER Prize to the most outstanding author in the Spanish language

Marías will be presented with the award Thursday, October 5th of this year at the Royal Tapestry Factory of Madrid, during the celebration of the LIBER Fair, which this year will be organized by IFEMA in the fairgrounds of the capital. With this award, the book sector wants to pay their respect to a body of work that has amassed great recognition beyond our borders, thanks to a style that brings readers close to the way he sees the world. In fact, his books have been published in forty-four languages ??and in fifty-seven countries, with more than eight million copies sold.

In addition to presenting Javier Marías with the award to the best author in the Spanish language, LIBER will present in October the Prize for the Promotion of Reading in the Mass Media to the newspaper La Nueva España, for their cultural supplement 'Cultura,' and the award to the best audiovisual adaptation of a literary work to Juan Antonio Bayona, for "Un monstruo viene a vernos” (“A monster is coming to see us"). Likewise, the Prize for the promotion of reading in libraries open to the public will be awarded to the Municipal Public Library System of the Concello de Oleiros, and the "Boixareu Ginesta" Prize to the Bookstore of the Year, to the Lé bookstore in Madrid. In addition, LIBER will pay tribute to an editor – whose name will be known soon – for his or her career in the book world.
