The writer Rafael Vallbona has won the 37th annual BBVA Sant Joan de literatura catalana Prize with his novel La casa de la Frontera (The Border House), the chosen winner among the 47 books presented.

Vallbona, who has received the 35,000 euros of the prize, has created in “La casa de la frontera” a choral novel that narrates the defining events that transformed La Cerdanya and Catalonia as a whole, since la Semana Trágica (the Tragic Week), passing through the Spanish Civil War and the post-war period, up until the beginnings of tourism and the creation of the Cadí tunnel.
