Let's Talk about "El color del silencio" a novel by Elia Barceló (Roca Editorial)

A famous painter who distanced herself from her family decides later on in life to investigate the death of her sister, which took place forty years ago.

Some say that Barceló’s novel has a touch of those of María Dueñas. The action is set in Morocco and the relationship that some of the characters that surround the protagonist have with fashion is reminiscent of Dueñas’s books. Beyond this there aren’t many more parallels.

Barceló is from Alicante and has been living for more than 30 years in Austria. She is a very well-known author in the science fiction and young adult genres; she is a deft manipulator of characters and storylines. The information is perfectly dosed so that the reader gradually understands what happened and the impact it had on the lives of the family members, including the father’s suicide and the mother’s depression. El color del silencio (The Colour of Silence) is a very correctly written novel, which has bestseller ambitions as well as the foundations for adaptation to television.”
