LaLiga and the University of Salamanca launch a microsite to promote Spanish across the globe

The two organisations have brought a new section online on LaLiga's website to strengthen the use of Spanish throughout the world. LaLiga and the University of Salamanca have taken their bid to promote the use of Spanish around the world a step further with the launch of a microsite on the English version of www.laliga.es.

The two organisations forged a new alliance in March 2016 with the objective ofstrengthening the use of the Spanish language around the world and developing joint actions in strategic markets. This alliance led to the launch of theFootball in Spanish microsite on the LaLiga website on 10 May last year, dedicated to promoting the correct use of Spanish, particularly in terms of football.

One year on, the microsite has also been launched in English with the aim of passing on knowledge, tips and the correct use of Spanish to foreigners who would like to learn the language, as well as offering a unique opportunity for people who wish to visit Spain to learn the language through an engaging competition.

The microsite on the LaLiga website consists of various sections. The Spanish Vocabulary section allows users to brush up on the terms used for certain football actions via a number of educational videos. The Test Yourself tab lets users demonstrate their Spanish expertise through a range of challenges, and the Blog provides interesting anecdotes about football and the Spanish language.

Furthermore, the Fan's Report Competition will give two lucky winners the chance to take a two-week Spanish course at the University of Salamanca with bed and board included. To enter the contest, users must send in a Spanish match report which they have written for a LaLiga game. The best entries will be published on a section of the microsite and two winners will be selected from among them to enjoy this fantastic prize.

Over 500 million people currently communicate in Spanish and the two organisations are collaborating closely to build bridges which will allow LaLiga fans to access content to improve their Spanish and discover the intricacies of football vocabulary through articles written by the University.
