Spain's author David Cirici is the winner of the Premio Strega for the Italian translation of his novel, “Molsa”

“Author David Cirici (Barcelona, 1954) has made of 2017 a year of success. In December, he was announced as the winner of the Premi Sant Jordi for his novel El séptimo ángel (The Seventh Angel) (Proa, in Catalan) and this Wednesday, he has been awarded the Premio Strega....

for the Italian translation of his novel, Molsa (Muschio, Il Castoro Libri). The Italian translator is Francesco Ferrucci.

The prize was announced in Bologna at the 2017 Bologna Children’s Book Fair, where Catalonia is this year’s guest of honor. The prize is awarded to works of literature for children older than six years old. Winner of the Premio Edebé de Literatura Infantil (Edebé Prize for Children’s Literature) in 2013, the book tells the story of a dog who watches his home and family disappear in an air raid, not understanding why wars are fought.”
