Cuento de Luz gets six International Latino Book Awards

The Spanish publisher of children books will receive the awards during the June 5th ceremony at the Instituto Cervantes in New York. The awards are presented by Latino Literacy Now in partnership with Las Comadres Para Las Americas and the Instituto Cervantes.

Cuento de Luz won six International Latino Book Awards in three different categories. The Spanish children books publisher will find out exactly which awards: First, Second or Honorable Mention at the award ceremony, June 5th, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Instituto Cervantes in New York City ( 211 East 49th Street)

“The Word Collector” by Sonja Wimmer, and “Witches Handbook” by Monica Carretero, were nominated for Best Children’s Picture Book – English. “Manual de Brujas” by Monica Carretero, and “¿Puede pasarle a cualquiera?” by Mar Pavon and Sonja Wimmer, were nominated for Best Children’s Picture Book – Spanish; and “Cocorina en el Jardin de los Espejos” by Mar Pavon and Monica Carretero, and “Historia de una Cucaracha” by Carmen Gil and Sonja Wimmer, were nominated for Best Cover Illustration.
