The Historian continues the magic saga started in 2013 with her book "Witches, Wizards and Unbelievers in the Spanish Golden Age", a work that reaped great satisfaction from the critics and the international media.
Also published by Alderabán, "Witch Passport" is an amusing essay- sprinkled with three fairy tales- where Dr. María Lara explains the most fascinating chapters of Modern History through a scientifist balance between reality and fantasy. In addition, the Writer analyses the validity of the political prophecies in the Spanish Empire and she details the role of the amulets in the Habsburg monarchy.
The book is the result of a decade of research developed by Maria Lara.
In Europe, the author has decrypted the secret archives of the Holy Office. Likewise, in this book María Lara traces, in narrative form, American phenomena, such as the “witches of Salem”. In fact, the novelist wrote part of the new work in the USA, as a RCC Fellow at Harvard.
The prologue, “The Boots of the Italians”, was written by Professor Laura Lara, winner with Maria Lara of the Algaba Literary Award with the book “Ignatius and the Society: From the Castle to the Mission” (prominent international contest organized by the publishing house EDAF and El Corte Inglés).
“Witch Passport” is a novel about the duel between the inquisitor and the sorceress. Without justifying the unjustifiable, María Lara denies certain arguments of the Black Legend.
In contrast, the Historian states that Spain was the only nation that was able to stop the witch-hunt during the XVIIth century. And the Hispanic World did it through the application of reason and the covenant of silence.

Volando en escoba, de España a América, en el tiempo de Cervantes" es el título con el que la Doctora Maria Lara, Profesora de Historia Moderna de la Universidad a Distancia de Madrid (UDIMA), vuelve al encuentro de los lectores para proseguir la saga mágica iniciada en 2013 con "Brujas, magos e incrédulos en la España del Siglo de Oro", obra que le cosechó grandes satisfacciones de la crítica y de los medios internacionales que se hicieron eco.
Publicado también por Alderabán, "Pasaporte de bruja" es un ameno ensayo, salpicado de tres cuentos, con los que la escritora y Premio Algaba aborda los capítulos más fascinantes de la Historia Moderna mediante un equilibrio entre realidad y fantasía que la lleva a preguntarse, a través de los clásicos, las fórmulas del vuelo, la validez de las profecías politicas del imperio español o la función de los amuletos en la monarquia de los Austrias.
El libro es fruto de los años de investigación desarrollados por María Lara en los archivos secretos del Santo Oficio y también en América, como Fellow del RCC en Harvard. Un relato protagonizado por el duelo entre el inquisidor y la bruja porque, sin justificar lo injustificable, la historiadora, Primer Premio Nacional de Fin de Carrera, desmiente argumentos de la Leyenda Negra al revelar que España fue la única nación que, en el XVII, fue capaz de parar, mediante la aplicación del raciocinio y del pacto de silencio, la caza de brujas.
