On Wednesday, the writers Ricard Ruiz Garzón and Francisco Díaz Valladares were announced as the winners of the 25th Edebé Awards for Children’s and Youth Literature worth 25,000 and 30,000 euros respectively.

Their books shall be published in March, the Director of Publications, Reina Duarte, said today. The Barcelona based writer Ruiz Garzón won with the novel La Inmortal (The Immortal), about a competitive, tenacious girl who transfers strategies from chess to real life. (…) 

The Seville-based writer Díaz Valladares won with his adventure novel Tras la sombra del brujo (In the Witchdoctor’s Shadow) set in exotic locations in Africa in the middle of the 21st Century.”
