Cómo llegó la noche / How Night Arrived
by Huber Matos

The triumph of the Cuban Revolution culminated in 1959 with the entrance of the victorious guerillas into Havana. Three commanders led the march: Fidel Castro, Camilo Cienfuegos and Huber Matos. Nine months later Huber Matos fell from Castro's graces and, after a brief trial, was condemned to twenty years in jail, of which he served the entire term. How the Night Arrived, which according to the judges gives the public "unarguable testimonial value," has received the 14th Comillas Biography Award in the autobiography and memoirs category. It is an honor for Tusquets Editores to have the opportunity to give a voice, which has up till now been unjustly silenced, to this privileged witness to one of the most controversial and mythical events of the 20th century. Cienfuegos' death in an airplane crash was never fully investigated. From the famous triumphant photograph only Castro is left on the island, having remained in power for more than forty years.

Hijos manipulados tras la separación / The Manipulation of Children after Separation
by Domènec Luengo & Arantxa Coca

The separation of a couple is a painful, confusing and defining moment in a child's life.
When in addition to the normal consequences of this separation one of the parents decides to completely alienate the other and distance them form their children, the consequences are irreparable.

This book is a manual and basic guide on parental alienation. It contains information, understanding and advice to help you navigate this hateful and self-serving process of psychological programming that parents use on their children in which they are instructed to reject the other parent, excluding them from their affective domain and completely removing them from their lives.
Parental alienation has different effects on each member of the family, but it is necessary to emphasize the importance of its ultimate consequence: the psychological disorder created in the life of a child and their emotional development as an adult.

The authors share an in-depth description and analysis of what happens in episodes of parental alienation: the process of continual conflict between two ex-spouses who project their intrapersonal conflict onto a terrain that should be off-limits, their children. In addition, they also explore the most common causes of alienation, the transformation in the structure and family relationships this implies, and the most healthy and intelligent mechanisms to use so that the alienated parent can regain their child's affection and participate in their lives.

Todo está bien / All is Well
by Louise L. HayDra. Mona Lisa Schulz

"Whenever there is a problem, repeat over and over: All is well. Everything is working out for my highest good. Out of this situation only good will come. I am safe." In this healing tour de force, best-selling authors Louise L. Hay and Dr. Mona Lisa Schulz have teamed up for an exciting reexamination of the quintessential teachings from Heal Your Body. All Is Well brings together Louise's proven affirmation system with Mona Lisa's knowledge of both medical science and the body's intuition to create an easy-to-follow guide for health and well-being. And, for the first time ever, they present scientific evidence showing the undeniable link between the mind and body that makes these healing methods work. Bringing focus and clarity to the effects of emotions on the body, All Is Well separates the body into seven distinct groups of organs-or emotional centers-that are connected by their relationship to certain emotions. Structured around these emotional centers, the authors outline common imbalances and probable mental causes for physical illness. They also include case studies that show a complete program for healing that draws from all disciplines, including both traditional and alternative medicine, affirmations, nutritional changes, and so much more. Using the self-assessment quiz, the holistic health advice, and an expanded version of Louise's original affirmation chart, you can learn how to heal your mind and body with affirmations and intuition and live a balanced, healthy life.

García Márquez. El viaje a la semilla /
Garcia Marquez: The Trip to th Seed
by Dasso Saldívar

"If I had read Journey to the Seed before, I wouldn't have written my memoirs." This is what García Márquez told Dasso Saldívar after having read the book in three days without being able to put it down. Saldívar's book is the product of 20 years of research, trips to the most important places in García Márquez's life, hundreds of interviews and reviewing archives in several countries on his quest to find answers. He was obsessed with finding out who this man who wrote One Hundred Years of Solitude was, anddiscovering the historical, cultural, family and personal reality behind this prodigious novel.

The main premise of the biography is that García Márquez wrote One Hundred Years of Solitude to "return" to the home where he was born and raised by his maternal grandparents to the age of ten, making this book a biography not only of García Márquez, but also of the novel itself. The Journey to the Seed researches and narrates the origins and essence of the writer's life and work.

Prohibido entrar sin pantalones / Desscode: Pants a Must
by Juan Bonilla

New York, Berlin, Paris, St. Petersburg and Mexico are some of the backdrops of this passionate novel about the life of avant-garde poet Vladimir Maiakovski. He was an extreme, arrogant and narcissistic man who couldn't deal with people not liking him, a dreamer who believed in the future and had an intensely romantic relationship with Lily Brink. This relationship, which was known as one of the most famous love triangles in world literature, was allowed and encouraged by her husband Osip.
Infected by the personality of its protagonist, this provoking and radical book is dominated by invention and freedom.

Juan Bonilla uses a sharp and energetic prose to defy established norms, play with incendiary metaphors and the desire to carouse and look for trouble. An overwhelming narrative force expresses the powerful charisma of this genius Russian avant-garde poet.

Mujeres: sexo, poder y placer / Women, Sex, Power, And Pleasure
by Evelyn Resh

Women are amazing. We climb to the highest levels in the business world, juggle our time between friends and family, and volunteer a helping hand when asked-all without seeming to break a sweat. But frequently what hides beneath that ultra-competent exterior is someone screaming out for change.

In Women, Sex, Power, and Pleasure, sexuality counselor and nurse-midwife Evelyn Resh focuses on helping you create the life and sex life you always hoped for by looking at your relationship to pleasure in general. With a refreshing and disarming sense of humor, she explores the importance of all types of pleasures-from a simple coffee break to great sex-and shows that without having these experiences on a regular basis, life feels empty and overall health suffers.
In her quest to explain why so many women's lives are barren of such pleasure, Resh lays out six attributes-self-esteem, physical health, spiritual satisfaction, creativity, resilience, and compassion-that are essential to accessing and prioritizing pleasure. When these six attributes are strong and balanced, women feel powerful and deserving of pleasure in all its forms. However, when even one is weak, they turn away from pleasure-especially sex.
With chapters structured around some of the most common reasons she's heard for avoiding sex in her practice-I Feel Nothing, Menopause Is Killing Me, I'm Too Busy!, I'm Too Fat to Have Sex-she sheds light on the imbalances that result in lives devoid of sexual desire and activity. With practical guidance, self-assessment questions, and stories from her practice and personal life, Resh explains how you can regain your emotional wellness and live a powerful life that includes a steady relationship with pleasure and sexual satisfaction.

Huber Matos was born in 1918 in Yara, Oriente Province to a humble family. He graduated from the Santiago de Cuba Normal School for Teachers and in 1944 obtained a PhD in pedagogy from the University of Havana. His profession as a rural teacher exposed him to the poverty and difficult conditions people in the countryside live in, which led him to become involved in politics at a young age. His participation became more active four years after Fulgencio Batista's 1952 coup when he joined the guerrillas and quickly became one of their most charismatic leaders. He was responsible for the taking of the city of Santiago, the second most important in the country and held important roles alongside Fidel Castro until he came to power in 1959. He later formed part of the initial revolutionary government but nine months after their triumphant entrance into Havana profound ideological differences regarding the totalitarian orientation Castro's policy had taken on precipitated his trial and prison sentence.
During his time in Cuban prison Huber Matos endured all types of physical and psychological torture and was a witness to and protagonist of the harassment suffered by political prisoners in the cells and dungeons assigned to them. On October 21, 1979, only after having served his entire sentence, was he set free and handed over to a commission sent to Havana by the Costa Rican government, country where he was finally reunited with his family. He currently lives in Miami.
