The "Real Academia Española" celebrates 300 years

Early this month, the Royal Spanish Academy is celebrating its first 300 years. Back in 1713, a group of 11 experts started working on a new dictionary published 26 years later. This time, the Academy will celebrate with a new website to be unveiled in September and a exhibition at the National Library, to be opened by the King and Queen of Spain.

“In 2014 the Academy will publish the 23rd printed edition of Diccionario de la RAE, in which there will be no unknown news, since the last announcement took place last September, when [director José Manuel] Blecua indicated that 'tuitear', 'tuiteo', 'tuit' and 'tuitero' would be included in the volume.” reports El País.
