Sobre la base de una exhaustiva investigación de archivo, Meruane traza el desarrollo de la “escritura seropositiva” como respuesta a la urgente demanda de significación frente a la epidemia que se desplegó a partir de 1980. En un luminoso ensayo preliminar, la autora identifica el eje central del discurso: el viaje –de errancia, de exilio, que promovió el contacto con el virus; la homofobia que impulsó a los gays del sur hacia las capitales norteñas; el “imponente nomadismo” del virus.
