Libraries adjust to new technologies while offering their traditional resources

PewInternet publishes a complete study on how libraries and patrons are embracing and using new technologies, and how while the libraries’ digital services are expanding, still print books remain relevant.

“The internet has already had a major impact on how people find and access information, and now the rising popularity of e-books is helping transformAmericans’ reading habits,” says the report. “In this changing landscape, public libraries are trying to adjust their services to these new realities while still serving the needs of patrons who rely on more traditional resources.”

The report also states how important it is to borrow books, the public priorities for libraries, their changes in recent years, how people use them and how Afican-Americans and Hispanic compare to whites in the use of this service.
