Días de Cine is featuring 'El caballero Don Quijote' until February 3rd

The movie, based on Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra's "El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha" (second part of "Don Quijote de la Mancha"), will be available at Días de Cine Reading Club until February 3rd, 2013. This initiative is sponsored by the America Reads Spanish program and the American Library Association to promote literature and the Spanish language in American libraries and universities.

El caballero Don Quijote stars Juan Luis Galiardo, Carlos Iglesias and José Luis Torrijo, and is directed by Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón. The movie will be available for the next two weeks to participating libraries and universities.

The man from La Mancha and his devoted sidekick embark on a new quest in this slightly off-kilter version of author Miguel de Cervantes' classic novel Don Quixote, as envisioned by director and screenwriter Manuel Gutierrez Aragon in his 2002 adaptation entitled Don Quixote, Knight Errant. Around the year 1615, Don Quixote (Juan Luis Galiardo) and Sancho Panza (Carlos Iglesias) enjoy the lives of celebrities, as the public was made well aware of their exploits thanks to the writings of De Cervantes. Now well into the twilight of his life, the eccentric nobleman gets the notion that a horde of angry Turks are about to launch a naval attack and Quixote decides it is once again time to suit up in the name of honor. As Quixote and Panza head out to meet their "foes," the anachronistic duo draws the attention and derision of their fellow countrymen. But no matter, Panza is perfectly content to let Quixote do his own thing -- even going so far as to instigate the knight's sense of daring-do, as the men head out to for what may be their final adventure together.

The program is offered at no cost to U.S. libraries and universities. To participate, libraries simply have to register and send the form provided at the America Reads Spanish website. They will receive an exclusive user password via e-mail. This password will allow them to enjoy, legally and free of charge, public viewing of the movie of the week via online streaming at a library or university. All it requires is a computer and internet connection. For more information click here or send an email to Miami@comercio.mineco.es.
