Poet Yolanda Pantin wins the Premio García Lorca. “I am not an isolated voice, I am what I write.”

In its seventeenth edition, the award, endowed with 20,000 Euros, recognizes the career of the renowned Venezuelan writer, who succeeds Julia Uceda.

The renowned Venezuelan poet Yolanda Pantin is the seventeenth winner of the City of Granada Federico García Lorca International Poetry Prize, which recognizes the entire poetic work of a living author that, due to its literary value, constitutes a relevant contribution to the cultural heritage of Hispanic literature.

After being told that she had obtained such a remarkable distinction, the writer told us her reaction: “I was in shock, it was 7 in the morning here and I went to bed late and had not had my first coffee, I was still asleep. This is extraordinary news for me, I am very excited. The impact was tremendous because it was absolutely incredible to me, I don't even know who nominated me or anything. This award redeems all Venezuelan poets, I never thought it could have such high recognition.”
