Isabel Allende, Liber Prize 2020 for the most outstanding Hispanic American author

For her long literary career and her effort to awaken reader interest around the world.

Chilean writer and journalist Isabel Allende has been chosen Liber Prize 2020 for the most outstanding Hispanic American author. With this award, the Board of Directors of the Federation of Publishers Guilds of Spain (FGEE) wants to highlight its extensive literary career and its effort to reach readers around the world and of all ages with different genres ranging from autobiography to fiction, which includes the description of important historical events.
 
With more than 74 million books sold worldwide, Isabel Allende has become one of the most widely read authors in the world, with 24 works that have been translated into more than 42 languages and have received critical acclaim. Worldwide recognition came to her in 1982 with the publication of her first novel, La Casa de los Espíritus, which began as a farewell letter to her dying grandfather. Since then, she has managed to attract numerous readers. Her works include: De Amor y de Sombra, Eva Luna, Daughter of Fortune, Paula, The Japanese Lover, Beyond Winter and, recently, Largo Petalo de Mar.
