Bárbara Blasco wins the Tusquets with a novel about illness, death and feelings

Writer Bárbara Blasco (Valencia, 47 years old) has been proclaimed winner of the 16th Tusquets Novel Editors Prize for Say the Symptoms, a story about a young woman in a sentimental and work crisis whose father is dying in a hospital. The novel will be published in the Andanzas collection on October 6.

(...) The jury highlights that it is "the scathing narration of a single woman in the midst of a crisis of disenchantment, both work and sentimental, who does not falter in the pursuit of happiness."

The jury, chaired by Almudena Grandes and made up of Antonio Orejudo, Eva Cosculluela, Elisa Ferrer -winner in the previous call-, and, on behalf of the publisher, Juan Cerezo, has highlighted that Dicen los sintomas is “the scathing narration of a single woman and in the midst of a crisis of disenchantment, both work and sentimental, who, despite having everything against her, does not falter in the pursuit of happiness ”. He also highlights that it is "a novel of disturbing writing, and an excellent generational portrait with an unexpected ending." (...)
