Rodrigo Costoya wins the IX Historical Novel Prize «Ciudad de Úbeda» with “Misarela”

The jury for the IX "Ciudad de Úbeda" Historical Novel Prize decided by majority that the novel would be the winner of this edition.

(...)The jury for the IX "Ciudad de Úbeda" Historical Novel Prize comprised of writers Jesús Maeso de la Torre, Salvador Compán and Pedro Santamaría; the journalist David Yagüe and the editor of Pàmies, Carlos Alonso, decided by majority that the novel Misarela, by the author Rodrigo Costoya to be the winner of this edition.

The jury highlighted that it is a novel full of nuances with a great literary quality by the author and in which an intense historical investigation is appreciated, which has led it to win the Prize.

Rodrigo Costoya Santos was born in 1977 in Cantabria, but he has a Galician heart. His parents, Galicians who had emigrated in search of work, decided to return to their land in 1981 so that their two children could grow up and be educated near Compostela.

Rodrigo learned to read in a self-taught way listening to his sister Laura syllable. There begins his passion for reading and his curiosity for (almost) everything that surrounds him. He finishes his studies and manages to pass the opposition to the Secondary School Teachers Body at the first attempt. During his doctorate he edited his first book, a technical publication on basketball. Thanks to that book and other factors, he lives the experience of the Basketball ACB as a physical trainer for the Obradoiro (Santiago de Compostela team) on his return to that category, a personal and professional enriching experience that he made compatible with teaching and directing of the CPI Os Dices, in the municipality of Rois (...)
