Ester Isel, “La Caixa” Literary Award winner / Young Adult novel.

The writer has been awarded for 'Sueños sin brújula' (Dreams Without a Compass), a novel which deals with themes such as the dark side of social networks, depression and anxiety in young people.

“La Caixa” Foundation and Plataforma Editorial, in this their eighth edition of the Literary Prize “La Caixa”/Plataforma for Young Adult novels, have awarded Ester Isel for her novel Sueños sin brújula (Dreams Without a Compass).  In addition to the 5,000 Euros, the author will see her work published by the young adult label Plataforma Neo, beginning September 30th. In this edition, the competition has received 274 novels from 20 different countries which have been written by authors between the ages of 14 thru 30 in the Spanish and Catalan languages. The competition is organized by Plataforma Editorial and Fundación “la Caixa”, who has donated the entire sum of the prize money.

The participating jury members: French writer Francesc Miralles; Isabel Fuentes, Director of CaixaForum Madrid; and Jordi Nadal, Director of Plataforma Editorial, have awarded the prize to Isel for the energy and authenticity in her handling of these “taboo themes” and her extreme legitimacy such as the dark side of social networks, depression and anxiety in young adults, addictions, and the essential self-worth in a society which bases their existence in the “what will people think.”
