The 60th Edition of Premios Lazarillo have been awarded in Madrid to Jordi Sierra i Fabra and Carmen López López.

The award ceremony should have taken place on April 2nd, during the Día del Libro Infantil y Juvenil (Children and Young Adult Book Day), but again, due to the Corona virus pandemic, the event had to be postponed to July 2nd.

The ceremony took place in the Biblioteca Municipal (Municipal Library) Eugenio Trías, inside the El Retiro Park in Madrid.

The award is organized by OEPLY and counts with the support of McDonalds and the Ministerio de Cultura y Deporte (Ministry of Culture and Sports).  Winners are awarded 6,000 Euros and usually earn the attention of publishers interested in their work.  The award is not paired with a specific publisher.

In this 60th edition of the oldest awards given in Spain by the LIJ, the winners were: the illustrator from Almeria, Carmen López López for her graphic novel “Una niña fantasma” (A Girl Ghost) and the Catalan writer, Jordi Sierra i Fabra for “Como lágrimas en la lluvia” (Like Tears in the Rain).  These works won over 36 others (29 in narrative, 5 poem books, and 2 plays) which were written in several of the official languages of Spain.
