The endless success of “Patria” (Homeland), the new novel by Fernando Aramburu crosses over to the graphic novel.

The Spanish cartoonist, Toni Feizula, has been chosen to illustrate the story scenes which made the author beat record sales.

Not even the most optimistic publisher would have dared predict the brilliant success of “Patria” (Homeland) (Tusquets Publishing).  Fernando Aramburu’s novel was published in September of 2016, and since then the interest in this sensational novel about our most recent and painful past has not stopped growing.  First it was the critics, enthusiastic about a book, which had finally told the difficult tale of Basque terrorism in our country. 

Soon after the readers spoke, translating into record sales not seen in Spain for many years.  Some time later, came the translations,  with copies being sold in so many countries that as of today, we have not been able to tally the amount of sales.  And then later the awards: National and Critic Awards in Spain, the Euskadi of Literature …..
