Industry, war and aristocracy in the latest Chufo Lloréns book, “El destino de los heroes” (The Destiny of Heroes).

Lloréns comes back to the historical novel and takes the reader to the turbulent era at the end of the XIX century and early XX century Europe.

Lloréns has dedicated four years to write his latest novel, El destino de los heroes (Grijalbo / Rosa dels Vents), officially making its debut this Wednesday in El Principal Restaurant in Barcelona.  A work which he admits was “almost as hard as a complicated pregnancy,” but one that was worth it, because he has achieved what is probably his most ambitious work.

The author, who at the age of 89, has managed to sell over 1,000,000 books with such titles as Te dare la tierra and Mar y fuego (“I will give you the Earth” and “Sea and Fire”), transports the reader from the end of the XIX century to the early XX century.   We follow the characters through the 864 pages battling challenges such as love, betrayal and jealousy.  Among these characters is the Spaniard José Cervera and the Parisian Lucie Lacroza and her sons, Félix and Nicolás.
