María José Gálvez, new general director of the Book and Reading Promotion

A doctor in law and an editor, she succeeds Olvido García Valdés, who resigned from office in October.

The Ministry of Culture and Sport announced the appointment of María José Gálvez as the new general director of the Book and Reading Promotion, a position that had been vacant since last October when Olvido García Valdés resigned. In these last months, the then Minister of Culture and Sport, José Guirao, filled in, who is now succeeded by José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes.

The new general director has a degree and a PhD in law from the University of Valencia, she interned at the University of Padua (Italy), and did predoctoral research at the universities of Harvard, Pisa and at the Free University of Brussels. She was an advisor to the First Vice Presidency of the Government and Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the President of the Congress of Deputies. She also worked as an assistant in the European Parliament.
