The Eñe Festival begins in Madrid

This year, for the first time at the eleventh edition, there will be a guest country: Mexico.

Just like it does each fall, the literature festival returns: the eleventh edition of the Eñe Festival begins today, November 11th, and will run through Saturday the 23rd. In the setting of Eñe Week, twelve days of multiple events will take place at various venues throughout the capital, including the Cervantes Institute, Casa de América, the National Library of Spain, the Regional Library of Madrid, and at the Fine Arts Circle on the 15th and 16th, where once again the Eñe Prize will be awarded to an author with a well-known career. This year the award went to Javier Cercas from Cáceres.

Also, for the second consecutive year, Malaga will once again host the festival on Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd. What’s new this year is that Mexico will be the first guest country, boosting the festival's programming with some of the most interesting examples of its current literary landscape, including Fernanda Melchor, Elda Cantú, Carlos Velázquez, Luis Jorge Boone, and Liliana Blum, through activities at the Institute of Mexico and the House of Mexico. Similarly, a group of bookstores in Madrid are joining the festival by organizing activities at their establishments.

These bookstores include: Enclave de Libros, Meta, Rafael Alberti, La Central de Callao, Traficantes de Sueños, Los Editores, La Fábrica, Mujeres & Compañía, Juan Rulfo, and Jarcha.
