A translator to increase Cervantes Exports

The publishing business depends a great deal on the Hispanic markets. Funds for translations are the basic element in order to reach more countries.

In the book business, language is the biggest impediment that small businesses face in order to be able to penetrate markets that go beyond Latin America.

In order to understand the influence Spanish has in the exports of publishing houses from Spain, all we need to do is look at the literary exports:  13 of their biggest 28 markets are Hispanic, with Argentina and Mexico at the top, representing 71% of export volume in 2017 (3.2 million of 4.5 million copies) and 63% of the value of shipments (15.7 million of 24.4 million), according to the latest statistics published by the Federación Española de Cámaras del Libro (Spanish Federation of Book Chambers). 

These figures do not take into account the 336,923 copies exported to the United States that add to 1.9 million Euros, which are editions for Hispanic readers living in the U.S.  (The Book Chambers only have data on volumes’ exports in Spanish language).
