Izara Batres wins the Clemente Rebora European Poetry Prize

Izara Batres, the poet from Madrid, has won the 2019 Clemente Rebora European Poetry Prize. The award ceremony took place on July 5 at the Biblioteca della Camera dei Deputati, Palazzo San Macuto in Rome.

Izara Batres was crowned winner of the First Prize of the European contest in the Spanish category with her piece ‘Renacer’ (Rebirth). Her set of three poems, under the title ‘Renacer,’ was unanimously awarded the first prize by the jury, who pointed out the quality of literary language and the power and liveliness of imagery and metaphors, which are of a special visible beauty across the entirety of the writer’s poetic works. This was the view of the panel of specialists, among whom were the professors and doctors Corrado Calabro, Domenico Pisana, Diego de Nadai, Franco di Carlo, Elisabetta Bagli, Maurizio Soldini and Pierfranco Bruni.

The writer recited the title-piece of the collection to great acclaim from the public.
