ALA 2019 - The most important trade fair for librarians in the United States showed keen enthusiasm for the Spanish Language

America Reads Spanish was present with an information booth at the ALA 2019 conference, where 20,2000 visitors had the opportunity to learn about Spanish literature and language, meet publishers and their work and participate in seminars and activities.

Many interested librarians and other professionals requested physical copies of the Essential Guides to Spanish Reading and many of them indicated that they were already actively visiting the America Reads Spanish website to keep up to date with the latest releases and recommendations of Spanish titles. 

Many publishing houses exhibited their books at ALA. Editorial Ekaré and Editorial Juventud, well known for their children and young adults oriented titles; being one of the genres with more success during the trade show. Also, Almadía, Almuzara, Anagrama, Diamante, Edaf, El Grano de Mostaza, Ediciones Obelisco, Roca Editorial, Salamandra, Sélector, Sirio, Urano all of them under the umbrella of their U.S. distributor: Spanish Publishers.

More Spanish collections were exhibited by distributors such Lectorum, Lorito Books,

and Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial.  Also, academic books in Spanish were well represented by companies such Iberoamericana Vervuert and Puvill Libros.

Spanish language books are growing in popularity in the U.S. and librarians attending the fair showed special interest for increasing their collections in Spanish to better serve their communities. America Reads Spanish will continue supporting American professionals and readers with their Spanish Collections.
