38 authors, 76 books, and one goal: that the Madrid Book Fair remain at Retiro Park

Under the hashtag #buscaencuentraylee (#seekfindandread), Planeta publishing house gathers a team of writers to promote reading and defend the current location of the event.

38 authors, 76 books, a common goal (to encourage reading), and another that came up suddenly (that the Book Fair stay in Retiro Park forever). The Planeta publishing house event, which brought together some of its literary stars on a sunny Friday morning, united them under the slogan #buscaencuentraylee. It also became rallying cry in favour of using Retiro Park as the setting for this cultural festival, which is facing criticisms about its impact on the park’s ecosystem.

“It is very gratifying that these 40 relevant writers support that the Fair, which has taken place for 52 years in Retiro Park, will be there for at least another 52,” said Manuel Gil, director of the event, between applause from the crowd. A ‘family photo’ capturing the event brought together such writers as María Dueñas, Javier Sierra, Juan Eslava Galán and the latest Planeta Award recipient, Santiago Posteguillo.
