Inés Garlard, Paloma González Rubio, and David Álvarez, winners of the Edelvives Literary Awards

Editorial house Edelvives awarded prizes to authors Garlard and González Rubio for their respective works Lilo and João, and gave the International Illustration Prize to Mexican illustrator Álvarez.

The awards ceremony was held at the Palacio Vistalegre arena with the motto “¡Vaya movida!” (What an event!). The Edelvives prizes were the Ala Delta Award for Children’s Literature, to Inés Garlard for Lilo; the Alandar Award for Young Adult Literature, to Paloma González Rubio for João; and the I International Illustration Award to David Álvarez. Head of Editorial Creation Rosa Luengo was in charge of awarding the prizes, along with the event presenters, comedic actors Carlos Latre and Álex O’Dogherty. The XXX edition of the Ala Delta Award received by Inés Galard has Lilo, a clear-eyed and caring dog, as its titular protagonist. The XIX Alandar Award, which went to Paloma González Rubio, is also named for its protagonist: João, while the sea also plays a fundamental role in the lives of the book’s three adolescent characters. Finally, the I International Illustration Prize was awarded on the other side of the ocean, landing in the arms of Mexican illustrator David Álvarez.
