Almudena Grandes brings together her newspaper articles from the last ten years in ‘La herida perpetua’ (The perpetual wound)

The writer Almudena Grandes from Madrid had never intended to compile her pieces from her opinion column, but in response to Juan Díaz Holgado, who is writing a thesis on her literary works, she decided to go ahead.

“Juan took care of all the selecting, I was only really involved towards the end, to add in an article which I thought was essential for understanding the crisis we’ve been going through over the last ten years”, said the writer at the book’s launch.

‘La herida perpetua’ is a compilation of ten years of work as a contributor to the news media. A book needed more than ever, as the writer states, “if we don’t look at the mistakes we made in the past, we’ll never manage to avoid them in the future”.
