David Acebes from TodoLiteratura interviews author J.D. Alonso Curiel (Valladolid, 1975)

He is the author of the poetry books ‘Es mejor el sueño’ (2007) and ‘Reflejos en el cristal cotidiano’ (2016), story books ‘Tu mejor pecado’ (2012), ...

‘Saber moverse’ (2016) and ‘La noche del escaparate’ (2017), short story collections ‘Yo conocí a un hombre satisfecho’ (2013) and short novels ‘Las guerras han terminado’ (2011). ‘Media hora’, published by Apache Libros, is his eleventh book.

D.A.: According to the book cover, ‘Media hora’ is a book of erotic stories and villains, though you’ve already dealt with this subject before…

J.D.: That’s right. It was called ‘Tu major pecado’, published by Babel Books Inc., a wonderful publisher of which I have great memories. That was in 2012. This publishing house put out a number of my titles between 2011 and 2015. That was a period in my life that is particularly special to me. Many Spanish-speakers read my stories. ‘Media hora’ follows the same path. They were very free, un-self-conscious stories, with uncomplicated sex and a lot of humor, though there were also some serious reflections on loneliness, lack of communication, and the existential vacuum that so defines these modern times.  All of that, but covered with a lot of irony and humor, which is always necessary.
