Writer Elvira Navarro chats with ABC about her new book of short stories.

In it, she returns to the outskirts to illuminate the dark places that exist in all our lives. The talent of a writer can be measured by the number of pages it takes to hook the reader. And if we go by that metric, Elvira Navarro (Huelva, 1978) is a virtuoso.

In just a few paragraphs, her stories grip you and, without realizing it, you become another character in a dense and penetrating atmosphere that clouds your conscience and forces you to continue reading. Until the end. This ritual is repeated in each of the 11 stories that make up her new book, La isla de los conejos [The Island of the Rabbits] (Random House). A recommendation: read it while listening to Sharon Van Etten’s new album, Remind Me Tomorrow, which is available today. Together, they are pure light.
