Last Friday, October 5, the final meeting of the Reading Commission of the International Historical Novel Contest: City of Úbeda took place.
With it ends a period of three months’ intense work to read and assess more than 50 unpublished works presented by their authors, and will conclude with the decision of the three novels that are finalists in this edition: In Civitate Regia (In the Royal City), Las Islas de Poniente (The Islands of Poniente), and Palacios de piedra y viento (Palaces of Stone and Wind).
The finalists have passed into the hands of the final jury, consisting of the writers Jesús Maeso, Salvador Compán and Pedro Santamaría, as well as a journalist specialized in historical novels, David Yagüe, and the editor of Pàmies Publishing, Carlos Alonso. They will be the ones deliberating the values and quality of the three applicants in order to award the prize to the most deserving piece of work.
