Almudena Grandes, will receive the Liber 2018 Award for the most outstanding Spanish-American author because of her ability to create literary work focused on women and about the recent history of Spain.

Grandes will receive the award on Thursday, October 4th at an event to be held at the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art within the context of Liber’s activities, organized this year by Fira de Barcelona. With this award, the book sector wants to highlight the brilliant career of this writer who has acquired, over the years, great recognition among her readers, both from within our country but also from outside of it, which has led her to become one of the most consolidated and internationally renowned names in contemporary Spanish literature.

Almudena Grandes (Madrid, 1960) became known in 1989 with “Las edades de Lulú”, a book that won the La Sonrisa Vertical Award. Since then, the applause of readers and critics has not stopped trailing her. After this book, other titles would follow such as “Te llamaré Viernes”, ”Malena es un nombre de tango”, “Atlas de geografía humano”, “Los aires difíciles”, “Castillos de cartón”, and “El corazón helado y los besos en el pan”, as well as the volumes of stories in “Modelos de mujeres” and “Estaciones de paso.”
