Olvido García Valdés, the new General Director of “Libro y Fomento de Lectura”.

The Asturian poet and essayist is a professor of Spanish Language and Literature and was also the director of The Cervantes Institute in Toulouse.

After the appointment of Amaya de Miguel as the new General Director of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music, announced yesterday by the Minister of Culture, José Guirao, these new appointments were also announced today, as reported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports at the end of the press conference after the Council of Ministers. This Asturian poet and essayist (Santianes de Pravia, 1950) is a professor of Spanish Language and Literature and was also the director of the Cervantes Institute in Toulouse (France). García won the 2007 National Poetry Prize for her book “Y todos estábamos vivos” (Tusquets Editores, Barcelona, ??2006).
