A tour through writers’ houses: places that breathe literature

Besides reading literary works, a different and enjoyable way to get to know the literary greats is by visiting authors’ houses-turned-museums, the spaces in which they lived.

Today they contain exhibits of their writing and the essentials they used to shape the most important chapters of literature. These museums might not be as numerous as we’d like, but in Spain there are still a good number of writers’ home museums. If Paris has the home of Victor Hugo, London the Charles Dickens Museum, and Frankfurt the Goethe House, Spanish villages and cities also have their literary spaces. These buildings exude the charm of times gone by, linked to the author whose work has resonated with us and brought us joy. They are spaces which make us think and which transport us to other ways of life.

We’d like to explore some of the writers’ museums across several Spanish cities. Let’s go on a tour of the writers’ houses here
