“Leopoldina the Witch” (“La bruja Leopoldina”), an unpublished tale by Delibes that was saved from the fire

This short story was written by the author from Valladolid in 1939, many years before his work became recognized.

That Miguel Delibes (Valladolid, 1920) is one of the great exponents of Spanish literature is a convention that has been more than accepted for decades. To talk about him is to talk about a versatile writer. A prolific author whose words have been devoured by the curious eyes of several generations of book addicts. Yesterday, ten years after his death, his extensive work became even more complete thanks to the publication of "Leopoldina the Witch and Other True Stories" (“La bruja Leopoldina y otras historias reales”) (Destino), among which pages the reader can find a short unpublished story accompanied by drawings by this author from Valladolid. A text that can already be found in book shops and that promises to be the last unknown original work signed by the late writer.
