Women are the future of literature

It has been 20 years since it became fashionable to state that editors thought mainly of women readers when publishing and designing their communication campaigns. It was a fact.

And the numbers have proved them right. In a study published in 2008 with data collected between 2005 and 2007, women retained their leading readership position with 59.6% compared to 51.4% of the male population. Therefore, the assumptions of publishers in the past were not wrong, and the trends made themselves apparent in several ways. An increase in the numbers of women visiting libraries was noted at new book launches and in writing workshops, which became popular during that decade. This data is currently outdated. The current percentage of Spanish women who read is 65% and growing.
