¿Quieres leer? Library adds Spanish section

OTTUMWA — Readers will find something new at the Ottumwa Public Library, but they might not be able to understand it. The library has added a section of Spanish materials to its main floor. A variety of fiction and nonfiction books in Spanish,...

some translated and some original Spanish works, are part of the collection, including a mix of classics and current best-sellers.

“It is important for any public library to serve the members of the community in which it’s based. In Ottumwa, we have a large Spanish-speaking population, and we are aiming to serve them to the best of our abilities,” said Ottumwa Public Library Director Sonja Ferrell. While the section on the main floor is new, OPL has had Spanish books in both the picture books and juvenile fiction sections for several years.
