Many books to download for free. The Biblioteca Nacional de España (The Spanish National Library) has made available to users of the Biblioteca Digital Hispánica (Hispanic Digital Library) the first literary work collections in ePub format for downloading in devices such as tablets, e-readers or cell phones.

The object of these free downloads is to promote reading of these literary works in electronic devices, thus getting more out of the digital collections  of the BNE.  Additionally, -already can be said- since the conversion to ePub entitles editing texts obtained through automatic recognition of PDFs, a new ensemble of “clean” and structured data is generated, which will contribute to improve searches or the application of digital tools of textual analyses.  This initiative means that over 700 works will be available in ePub format, chosen not only in Literature and Language, but also in other works such as History, Geography, Medicine, Biographies, Travel . . . .
