2017 Salon of Children’s and Young Adults’ Books of Madrid

The Salón del Libro Infantil y Juvenil de Madrid (Salon of Children’s and Young Adults’ Books of Madrid) celebrates a new edition (which is already number 41st) that will take place at the Conde Duque Cultural Center from December 13th, 2017, to January 4th, 2018.

This year, the salon will open under the motto “Libros que tienden puentes” ("Books that build bridges"), with the goal of demonstrating that children's books are capable of erasing all linguistic, cultural, religious, political and intellectual boundaries. Therefore, various activities related to this motto will take place, such as an exhibition of illustrations made by artists from all over Spain: “Los ilustradores pintan puentes” ("Illustrators paint bridges"). You will see many of the works that will be exhibited in this link. This year’s protagonists will be Jella Lepman (founder of the Children's and Younh Adult Library of Munich, which each year awards the White Raven Prizes); Antonio García Teijeiro (National LIJ Award, 2017); the illustrator Rafael Salmerón (author of this year's poster); as well as the winners of the 2017 Lazarillo Awards. Also in attendance, among others, will be the writer Alfredo Gómez Cerdá, Spain's candidate for the 2018 Andersen Award.
