The Galician writer has received the prize thanks to 'Poemar o mar' (Poetry or The Sea), the collection of poems with which he has brought to a conclusion his trilogy on the sea, and which has been illustrated by Xan López Domínguez.

Antonio García Teijeiro has won the National Prize of Literature for Children and Young Adults in its 2017 edition with his book Poemar o mar, written in Galician. The prize is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports with the aim to honor a book by a Spanish author, written in any of the official languages of Spain, and published in Spain during the year 2016.
