Instituto Cervantes New York to host two events about García Lorca this week

The film screening of the documentary “Lorca, así que pasen cien años” and the launch of “The Lover from Uruguay” will be held June 12 and 13 respectively at the institute’s quarters.

Instituto Cervantes New York presents the documentary “Lorca, así que pasen cien años”, Tuesday, June 2 at 7 p.m. “This beautifully crafted and rich documentary celebrates Lorca's life through a look at his friends, his music, and the cultural and political movements that influenced his work,” states the institute's website about the Spanish documentary with English subtitles.

Then, on Wednesday, June 13 at 7 p.m. author Santiago Roncagliolo will present his book “The Lover from Uruguay”. “Did the Uruguayan Enrique Amorim steal the corpse of García Lorca?”, reads the promotion of the event in the institute's website. “Was he guilty of his murder? Was he his lover in Argentina? Or did he make up everything, trying to go down in history with one of the greatest poets of the 20th century?”

Both events will be held at Instituto Cervantes New York: 211-215 East 49th Street. For more information, on “Lorca, así que pasen cien años” click here, for information on “The Lover from Uruguay”, click here, or visit the Instituto Cervantes New York website.
